Edit Bay is the multi-track timeline editor in the FXI Studio Lab. You cut generated clips with the Select (V) and Blade (C) tools, drop markers with M, compare and swap takes, extend or relight a shot with AI, and export the timeline as an FCPXML 1.10 package for DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or Premiere Pro. It is included from The Creator plan up.
Best for
- online video editor
- AI video timeline editor
- export FCPXML
- DaVinci Resolve timeline import
- edit AI video clips
Overview
Edit Bay opens as a tab in the Lab at /lab and is in early access. A new project has one video track and one audio track on a 1920×1080 (16:9) sequence, and you can add more video, audio, text, and caption tracks. Projects autosave in your browser as you work.
To finish in a professional editor, export Timeline XML (FCPXML). You get a .zip with timeline.fcpxml, a media folder with your source clips, and a README with import steps. It is built in your browser and costs no credits. MP4 export from Edit Bay is coming soon, and so is saving projects to your account across devices.
What you can do
- Select and Blade tools
- V for Select and C for Blade; S or B splits the clip under the playhead.
- Markers
- M drops a marker at the playhead. Select a marker and press Delete to remove it.
- Filmstrips
- Timeline clips show thumbnail filmstrips sampled from the footage, refreshed as you zoom.
- Takes and Compare
- The inspector’s Source tab lists other takes for a clip. Compare takes shows two side by side, and Use this take swaps it in.
- Extend shot
- Generates a continuation from the clip’s last frame and places it right after the clip. Draft uses P-Video and Final uses Kling 3.0 Turbo, both at 720p.
- Relight
- Re-lights a clip from a text prompt with P-Video Edit (up to 15 seconds of source) and adds the result as a new take.
- Transitions, captions, speed
- Fade, Slide, Wipe, Dip to Black, and Dip to White; caption tracks with styling and SRT import; per-clip speed controls.
- Auto-reframe
- Reframe a clip to 9:16, 1:1, or 4:5 on The Visionary plan and above.
- FCPXML export
- A .zip with an FCPXML 1.10 timeline and its media. Color grades, AI effects, captions, and transitions are not carried into the XML.
- Exports tab
- The media pool has Library, Import, and Exports tabs. Exports lists render jobs with their status and a Download action.
