- How do I compress a video without losing quality?
- Choose the High quality preset, which re-encodes to efficient H.264 at a near-original quality level and usually shrinks phone and screen recordings a lot. If you need a specific size, pick a target and the compressor spends every available bit on the picture, lowering resolution only when the size cannot carry the original sharply.
- How do I get a video under 10 MB or 16 MB?
- Pick the 10 MB, 16 MB or 20 MB target (or type your own), then press Compress video. It calculates the bitrate from the clip’s length, keeps a safety margin, and re-runs once at a lower bitrate if the first pass lands over. If a long clip cannot fit and still look watchable, it tells you the smallest sensible size so you can trim first.
- Is my video uploaded to a server?
- No. Compression happens in your browser and the file never leaves your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you sign in and choose to save the result to your library.
- Why is compressing slower than uploading to an online site?
- The encoding runs on your own device instead of a remote server, which is what keeps your footage private. Short clips finish quickly; long or 4K videos take longer, and files over 500 MB show a memory warning. Keep the tab open until it finishes, or press Cancel.
