Aspect ratio

Definition
Aspect ratio is the shape of a frame, expressed as the relationship between its width and height, such as 16:9 for widescreen or 9:16 for vertical. It decides whether a shot reads as cinematic, as a phone-first social clip, or as a square, and it should be chosen before generation because it changes how a shot is composed.
How it works in FXI Studio
In FXI Studio, you set aspect ratio up front so composition and framing are built for the destination from the first frame, rather than cropped into shape afterward. A film cut for a cinema reads differently from the same story cut for a vertical feed.
Choosing the ratio early also keeps a sequence consistent, so every shot in a scene shares the same frame shape and cuts together cleanly.
