How to trim a video

- How do I trim a video for free without an app?
- Open the Video Trimmer in your browser, add a clip, drag the start and end handles on the filmstrip, and press Trim video. Download the MP4 when it is ready. There is nothing to install and no account needed.
- Does trimming reduce the video quality?
- Not in Fast mode. For MP4 and MOV files it copies the original video and audio streams without re-encoding, so quality is identical and it finishes in seconds. Fast cuts land on the nearest keyframe, so the start can shift slightly. Exact mode re-encodes to H.264 at high quality to cut on the exact frame.
- Is my video uploaded to a server?
- No. Trimming runs entirely in your browser, so the video and the trimmed file stay on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you sign in and choose Save to Library.
- What formats and sizes does it support?
- MP4, MOV and WebM in, MP4 out. WebM is always re-encoded because it cannot be copied into an MP4 losslessly. Files up to about 2 GB work; above 500 MB you will see a memory warning, and shorter clips process faster.
- Does it work on iPhone and Android?
- Yes. It runs in a modern mobile browser: pick a clip from your camera roll, drag the handles with your finger, and download the result. Keep the tab open while it processes.
