Can AI make a short film from a one-line idea?

The short answer
Yes. In FXI Studio Director Mode you type a one-line idea and the AI director, Bezaleel, plans it as a sequence of scenes, writes a shot description and prompt for each, and generates storyboard frames. You approve or change each shot, then render the scenes as video clips and stitch them into one cut.

What happens after you type the idea
Director Mode treats your line as a brief. Bezaleel breaks it into scenes, and each scene gets a short script line, a detailed visual prompt (lens, light, framing, motion) and a target length. You see the whole plan as a scene list before anything is rendered.
Each scene then gets a storyboard key frame, a still image of the shot. Stills are cheap compared with video, so this is where you fix the casting, the wardrobe, the light and the composition. When a frame looks right, that scene is rendered as a video clip from it.
What a one-line idea produces in practice
The two example films linked on this page were both started from a single line in Director Mode. The Artisan became three scenes: a craftsman planing wood, his family bringing a boat to the shore, and a dove landing on the bow. The Dreamers became a three-scene golden-hour montage.
Each film page shows the exact shot list and prompts from the project record, what actually rendered, and where the output missed the prompt. One scene in The Dreamers asked for a backflip and got a sprint through the surf. That is normal: the plan makes misses easy to spot and retake one shot at a time.
How this differs from a single text-to-video prompt
A single text-to-video generator returns one clip per prompt. A short film needs several shots that agree with each other: the same people, the same world, a sequence that reads as a story. A director tool plans that sequence first and keeps it consistent across shots.
In FXI Studio the plan, the stills, the video clips and the final cut live in one project, so a change to one scene does not mean starting over.

- 3Read and edit the scene plan
Check each scene line and prompt. Change the order, the lens, the wardrobe or the light before you spend video credits.

Each scene gets a still key frame. Regenerate any frame that is off until the casting and look hold across scenes.
- 5Render the scenes as video
Generate a clip from each approved frame. Retake only the shots that miss.
