Negative prompt
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Definition
A negative prompt is the part of a request that tells the model what to leave out. The main prompt describes what you want in the frame; the negative prompt names what you do not, such as an unwanted color, a style, a distortion, or an object. Together they steer both toward and away from a target.
How it works in FXI Studio
In FXI Studio, a negative prompt is how you correct a recurring problem without rewriting the whole shot. If a frame keeps adding an object you do not want, naming it in the negative prompt removes it while the rest of the composition stays put.
Used with a fixed seed, a negative prompt is a precise instrument: you can subtract one element at a time and see exactly what changed.
