Everything below lives one right-click away from your tracks. Generation uses FXI Studio credits, same as the web app — one account, one library, two rooms.
Right-click an audio track, clip, or clip slot → Generate music with FXI. Drop lyrics (or leave them empty for instrumental), pick your models, set samples per model — and it reads your project tempo so takes land on the grid.
Right-click a MIDI clip → Use clip as melody. The first ~30 seconds render at your session tempo and steer melody-capable models. Write the hook, keep the hook.
Audition fresh takes side by side, keep the one that works, or roll again with identical settings. The crew never gets tired.
Everything you have generated in FXI Studio, pullable straight into the arrangement or a clip slot. The web app and the session share one library.
Split any take or library item into stems — master WAV, instrumental, and vocals — each placed on its own labelled Live track, ready to arrange.

Grab the latest fxi-soundstage release from GitHub. The client is open source (MIT) — audit exactly what runs inside your DAW.
Drop it into Live
In Live Beta: Settings → Extensions, then drag the .ablx file into the Extensions panel — or click Install Extension and pick the file.
Restart Live
A full restart, not a rescan. SoundStage appears in the Extensions sidebar when Live comes back.
Right-click to verify
Right-click any audio track. If you see "Generate music with FXI…", the crew is on the clock.
Updating: install the new .ablx over the old one the same way, then fully quit and relaunch Live — a rescan is not enough.
One approval. Zero secrets in the client.
First use opens your browser to fxi.studio. The extension uses a standard PKCE loopback flow — the same pattern trusted CLIs use — and the published source means you can audit exactly what runs inside your DAW.

Right-click → any FXI action → Sign in opens fxi.studio/auth/extension in your browser.

Approve the connection. The browser hands a one-time code back to the extension on 127.0.0.1 — local only, it never leaves your machine.

Your session is stored in the OS keychain. Not in files, not in the Live set, and revocable anytime from your FXI Studio account.

Right-click the track
Any audio track, clip, or clip slot. Choose "Generate music with FXI…" — the brief dialog opens over your session.
Drop the lyrics
Lyrics with [Verse] and [Chorus] tags — or empty for instrumental. Pick models, set samples per model. SoundStage reads your project tempo; never type a BPM.
Audition the takes
The take picker lines up every variant. Keep the one that works, or hit "Generate again" and roll the same brief.
Split to stems
One click turns the keeper into labelled stem tracks — master WAV, instrumental, vocals — laid out and ready to arrange.
Arrange like it is yours
Because it is. Chop, resample, re-pitch, layer. Takes land on the grid at your tempo; the session never left Live.
Four snags, and how to clear them.
The extension does not show up in Live.
Extensions are beta-only for now. You need Ableton Live 12.4.5 public beta with a Live 12 Suite license — stable and earlier builds will not load .ablx files. Join the Ableton Beta Program, install Live Beta, then reinstall.
An update installed but nothing changed.
Install the new .ablx over the old one, then fully quit and relaunch Live. A rescan is not enough — the old build stays resident until Live restarts.
Takes land off the grid.
SoundStage reads the project tempo at generation time. If you changed the tempo after dispatching, re-generate — or warp the take to the new grid like any other clip.
Sign-in opens the browser but never completes.
Approve the connection in the same browser profile where you are signed in to fxi.studio, and let the redirect to 127.0.0.1 finish. If a firewall prompt appears, allow it — the loopback never leaves your machine.
